For over 28 years LCAD has been delivering accredited Diploma and Advanced Diploma courses in Visual Art, Graphic Design and Photography to local and international students. Single subjects are also offered in painting, drawing, sculpture, studio practice, art history and theory, as well as in various graphic design and photography disciplines.

CUA51120 Diploma of Visual Arts

LCAD is proud to offer a nationally recognised CUA51120 Diploma of Visual Arts. Our course enables students to develop a range of technical skills and conceptual strategies in visual art whilst nurturing their own individual style. Students have the option of enrolling in an art-focused stream or a photography-focused stream in visual art and are supported by experienced teachers who are well-recognised in their respective fields.

CUA60720 Advanced Diploma of Visual Arts

LCAD is proud to offer a nationally recognised CUA60720 Advanced Diploma of Visual Art. Our course enables students to develop a range of technical skills and conceptual strategies in visual art whilst nurturing their own individual style. Intimate class sizes and opportunity for one-to-one teaching allows students to rapidly forge a creative style and cultivate an independent visual art practice or folio.

CUA50920 Diploma of Photography & Digital Imaging

LCAD's photography course is dedicated to image-makers and artists who are interested in developing their oeuvre and building upon their technical skills. They will explore alternative processes, as well as industry and experimental digital formats. Students will engage in classes that help them to understand how the work they create shapes contemporary culture.

CUA50720 Diploma of Graphic Design

LCAD offers a comprehensive and flexible CUA50720 Diploma of Graphic Design centred around producing creative thinkers who have skills in both digital and print design. Our teaching staff are experienced, practicing designers in their fields and offer industry-based insights and an innovative approach to the creative process in design. Classes are conducted in a studio setting with small groups and lots of opportunity for one-to-one learning.

Game Art & Animation

LCAD is proud to offer the nationally recognised Game Art and Animation course where students will complete the CUA51120 Diploma of Visual Arts and the CUA51020 Diploma of Screen and Media qualifications. Dive into the world of game art and animation by exploring the leading software in this dynamic and ever-growing industry.

Single subjects

LCAD offers a wide range of single subjects focussed on providing students with practical skills in areas of painting, drawing, sculpture, studio practice, art history and theory, as well as in various graphic design and photography disciplines. Students can study a single subject or customise a timetable that suits their lifestyle and existing commitments.

Study Tours

LCAD is renowned for our international tours. From Venice to Bali, Berlin to Tokyo our roster of study tours provide students with incredible learning experiences that combine the adventure of travel with the ability to undertake formal units of study in our Diploma and Advanced Diploma programs. Tours are available for students at all levels as well as the general public.

Established in 1995, LCAD is a government-approved, independent tertiary institution. This year marks our 28th year of delivering exceptional arts education and we remain energised by the challenges and opportunities presented by a post-Covid environment. An intimate experience

With small, tailored classes we pride ourselves on providing an enriching, tutorial-based curriculum with opportunities for one-to-one support from passionate academic and professional staff. With a holistic focus on art and design, our students not only have the opportunity to develop specific skills but to experiment with different art-making modes in order to refine their creative oeuvre.

Studio Based Facilities

Based in Collingwood, LCAD is conveniently located close to the city centre of Melbourne and important cultural and food precincts such as Carlton and Fitzroy. Our modern studio based facilities have been designed to maximise one on one tutoring while providing creative flexibility for students. Within this intimate setting our staff deliver a specialised combination of theory and practical skills that encourage our students to be creative, innovative and to think independently.
