Where are LCAD located?

LCAD is located in Collingwood, 2.5 km from the city centre of Melbourne, one of the biggest cities of Australia. Melbourne, and in particular Collingwood, is generally acknowledged as a vital creative centre in Australia, incorporating many studios, galleries, creative collectives and other businesses.

What can I study at LCAD?

LCAD offers four courses to international students including the Diploma of Visual Arts (CUA51120), the Diploma of Graphic Design (CUA50720), the Advanced Diploma of Visual Arts (CUA60720) and the Diploma of Photography & Digital Imaging (CUA50920).

What is the application process?

While course applications can be made directly through this website, there are a number of steps that you will need to undertake manually following your online application. We have provided a top level summary of the application process following for your ease of reference. 3. Complete your online application noting the following information will be required.

4. Scan and email the following information in PDF form to admin@lcad.edu.au noting your name and desired course in the subject field; (a) a copy of your passport page with photo of yourself, (b) a copy of your secondary school results or your highest education level, (c) examples of artwork that is yours and that might include drawing, painting, photography, digital work or anything that represents your interests, (d) Receipt of your Overseas Student Health Cover and (e) Proof of sufficient English language standard, IELTS 5.5, or equivalent.

Where do I apply?

Course Applications are made directly through this website. Simply select the available course from our main menu and complete the application form.

When can I apply?

There are three terms in a year, beginning in February, June and September. Deadlines for enrolments are normally one month before start. Places may still available after the deadline if the course is not filled. The ideal entry time is the Autumn term(February) but students are able to easily enter in the other term periods. A one year qualification is 3 terms long.

What is English is my second language?

If English is your second language Proof of sufficient English language standard, IELTS 5.5, or equivalent will be required to complete your application.

What are the term dates?

There are three terms that correspond with each year;

Autumn term- Entry option is February.

Winter term - Entry option is June.

Spring term - Entry option is September.

What are the holiday dates?

There are 3 week breaks between terms. The Australian summer break, December to February, is 2.5 months long. There is also a 1 week break in the middle of each term.

How much are LCAD fees?

Which fees apply to me?

We appreciate that there are a number of factors that will determine your final course fees and material costs. To ensure you have the most accurate information, we suggest that you contact LCAD direct on +613 9495 6622 or email admin@lcad.edu.au to discuss your individual circumstances.

Do I need to pay a deposit?

Yes. A payment of AUD1,000.00 is required to confirm a student’s course enrolment. The Enrolment Deposit payment is deducted from student’s fees and is not an additional fee.

When are fees due?

LCAD tuition term fees are due to be paid in full by Orientation - 1 week before study commences. If an instalment payment arrangement is entered into then payments are strictly due on the 1st of each month following the commencement of each term. Invoices will not be issued for instalment reminders. There are 9 instalment payments per year or 3 per term.

How many study units are there?

1 year course is made up of 15 Study Units. 

How do I apply for a Student Visa in Australia?

For information about student visas contact the Department of Home Affairs at www.homeaffairs.gov.au or your local Australian Embassy. For further assistance you may wish to obtain advice from a professional student agency. Typically you will require the following information to apply for your student visa:

  • your Letter of Offer from LCAD
  • Copy of your Acceptance Agreement Form showing you have paid your tuition fees
  • Valid passport
  • Evidence to show ability to cover cost of living expenses for the duration of the course (only required for citizens from certain countries).
  • Proof of sufficient English level, if English is sencond language.
  • you will also need Overseas Student Health Cover before you start your course.
