Within the college in Collingwood, students have access to and work in large, fully equipped, light-filled studio and classroom spaces. These include spaces and facilities set up for painting, drawing, sculpture, photography - lighting studio, and darkroom, design - computer lab, tool workshops, lecture rooms, common room, large gallery space, and individual studio spaces for second-year visual art students.

All Advanced Diploma of Visual Arts students are given permanent, individual studio spaces to work in for the duration of their studies. Located on our first floor, each space is generously equiped with a range of materials and facilities that allow students to focus on the development of their oeuvre.

The central gallery space at LCAD provides students with the ideal environment to present and discuss their work to teaching staff and peers. Designed to simulate a real world gallery, the generous space allows students to develop innovative modes of presentation, deliver floor talks and lectures and learn about then relationships between the social, political and architectural contexts surrounding their work. Constantly updated, the LCAD workshop presents a range of tools and raw materials to support a students development of specific skills and experiment with different art-making modes in order to refine their creative path.

As the beating heart of LCAD, our computer labs and photography studios provide our students with the relevant tools to enhance their creative practice while understanding the latest developments in software and image making.

Based in Collingwood, LCAD is conveniently located close to the city centre of Melbourne and important cultural and food precincts such as Carlton and Fitzroy. An incredible array of cafes and restaurants are within walking distance of the college including All Press, Streat, Proud Mary, Two Birds, Above Board and Smithward.
